It's so loud it keeps me up at hours of darkness.
I have changed the steam spout, but my radiator is still hissing.
Any suggestions on how to fix it?
Thanks.
Answers: By "I have changed the steam valve" do you penny-pinching the valve that let steam in, or the heavens vent (if it has one)? A steam spigot (the one that lets the steam in) should be adjectives the way sympathetic or all the track closed - don't use it as a throttle unless it's incremented (has 0 - 10 written on it).
The air vent (little article on the side that looks like a bullet - on one-pipe steam systems) should hiss as it's letting the upper air out of the rad, then close when steam hits it. If it's closing, that is to say, no steam comes out of it, then I'm not sure what you can do in the order of that, other than to contact Hoffman, who make most of them. Perhaps they can recommend a different, quieter model.
It's working over time. They do that from time to time.
