It isn't the actual faucet that makes the noise, but the hose down, it seems. It is hard to describe. When I turn the faucet on surrounded by my bathroom, the whole sink vibrates, and this loud rumble that sounds like "grinding water", a tea-kettle whistling, a trash compactor... (stay next to me here...) fills the room, so loud it actually hurts my ears. Is the marine pressure to strong? (I am on the 24th floor in an apartment bldg). It is really irritating. How come the water doesn't simply flow out, in need making any noise? It is so loud it wakes up my GF within the adjoining room! Anyway...did the apartment complex install cheap faucets? Water pressure too high? Thanks.
it's caused from air surrounded by the lines, it's called hammering! Probably not much they could do in apts. Or atleast won't do because of expence.

It it's a standard two handle faucet it sounds approaching the bib screws are loose. These are the screws that hold the rubber washer to the stem. Water flowing join the loose washer will vibrate and make a loud reverberation. Call your maintenance department and they should be able to fix it contained by a few minutes. It's not the faucet, it's the pipes. I would notify management to see if they will fix the problem because sooner or later adjectives that rattling of the pipes will cause a outflow somewhere.
Answers:    Actually it's cause by not enough air contained by the lines. It's water hammer, and commercial apartments are the worst. The contractor may own cut corners and not installed extra pipes teeing off vertically - which fill near air and cushion water pressure when the faucet is closed.

It can be tracked down and corrected - honest luck, tho. You may find moving an easier experience than moving your super to do something about it.
