About 2 years ago, I purchased a 100 year old home. Most of the home have plaster walls, but the kitchen and bathrooms have be remodeled prior to my ownership and the walls were replaced near drywall. When I bought the home, no seams be visible, in a minute, 2 years later, they are everywhere! One of the worst areas is the bathroom. The edges of almost every sheet of drywall is showing through. could this be an issue cause by moisture in the heavens. We do have a supporter in the bathroom, but i'm wondering if the steam from the shower is making the seam show? How do I go in the region of fixing this? thanks!
Answers: The purveyor did a cheap job next to the joints which would closing long enough to market the place. The joints have need of fiberglass tape, and the outside corners have need of metal corners for durability. Probably no tape be used, and simple shifting of the house caused it adjectives to crack. And moisture did not help. Redo the joint properly, in 3 layer, and use a bathroom paint - I love Sherwin Williams high order stuff. It is amazing that labor is the major part of the pack of a job, but ethnic group skimp on a few dollars on materials - which requires more labor more quickly. So don't be penny perceptive and pound foolish. Good luck!
Paint it with a interpret finish paint. That will help repel any moisture. More than credible the moisture is getting to the joint compound used and is making it definite. They may not have primed it any.
