paint

Your plumber is correct. New radiators have a slight coating to protect them while contained by transit to the final destination. It will burn off and the smell will confer on, in reality I would guess it's getting less and smaller number noticable by now.

If the smell stays for an extended spell, call your plumber final and have him check it out again.
Answers:    It is a short time ago the gray paint. And maybe some of the pipe dope compound. Don't verbs. Enjoy the heat. The smell will move about away in a hours of daylight or so. If too much thread sealant, use a paper towel and wipe excess bad.
Yeah it has to burn rotten the coating first. Might take a week or more.

You do involve to ventilate your place to remove the fruitless air.
could be topical paint on the radiator settling in near the heat
.
If it do sent travel away after a week, call him put money on to check it
