Answers: Until you find out what's wrong, shut down the water electric fire. I'm guessing that since you've recently have a freeze, the pipe that leads to your hot-water boiler has burst somewhere down the chain, or is still frozen.
Yes, the space-heater could have be the only point keeping it thawed, especially if you live contained by an area where on earth it gets really cold. A level or two can make adjectives the difference.
