Why doesn't my oil lamp work? I have a oil lamp and you have to turn a knob...

I have a oil lamp and you have to turn a knob to turn it on and usually when you turn the knob it make a clicking noise but presently when i turn the knob it just turns but doesn't label any noise and the muted doesn't turn on. Does anybody know why this is happening? Is within anything I can do to fix this problem?

Answers:    The switch is broken and it isn't connecting the piece that completed the circuit. Open it up and see what isn't happening, and fashion it happen.
