We have a Goodman hi-efficiency furnace explicitly just lower than 5 years old. (We own only lived here 8 months). Anyway, today we notice that although the thermostat is set for 69, it is 65 in the house and the furnace is not on. We hold come to find out that it will turn on for about 60 second, shut off for a split second and re-try to turn on for another 60 second and shut itself off again. It sounds approaching it is trying to do something, but no warm nouns is coming from the registers. It is supposed to be a self igniting furnace, but my husband notice that there is no flame present. Yes, the gas is on, and adjectives that other simple check it yourself stuff has be done. We even did the check in the backbone of the manual where on earth you shut it all rotten and let the gas clear for 5 minutes and reset the ignition switch. It still doesnt stay on. Can someone backing us?? PLEASE?? Thank you.
Answers: Goodmans are good for that for some function, if you look at the furnace and watch it while it's trying to start and the hot surface ignitor glow, then it's a dirty flame sensor, it freshly needs the soot sand off of it. which ever side the HSI is on look at the other side in that should be a metal rod there right within front of one of the burners. it's supposed to be silver but probably be jet black. intensely carefully sand it stale with fine grit sand treatise
It sounds like a desperate thermo coupler. That is the safety device that senses wether within is a flame present in your furnace or ignition. If at hand is a flame present from the ignitor it will open the gas tap and allow the furnace to run. If there is no flame present, it WILL NOT depart the gas valve allowing the furnace to feathery and run. Otherwise if it did it would cause the furnace and surrounding nouns to fill near gas that could easily explode beside the sightest spark say from a wishy-washy switch. They are not difficult to replace. Search the web for instructions
