Why is sand present in concrete.? I understand why cement, marine, course aggs and admixtures are used but what purpose is sand in a concrete mix? cheers for any help

It gives the cement something to bind to and also for the finish. minus sharp sand the concrete would just fall apart ..its the sand that give it both a binding and plyability agent
