Answers:    It is pretty much a business of choice by each country. We here contained by the US run our appliances on 110 volt. Most foreign countries use 220 volts.

If their outlets were matching as ours, when we traveled there we would be capable of plug right into them. This would cause anything we plugged contained by to burn up immediately. Good safekeeping feature.
