It was really gusty. My clothes dryer is in the garage. It's gas. Is it expected that the wind blew out the pilot fluffy. That seems stupid, I know, but that's what someone told me.
What are some ways I can try to fix this myself?
Answers: Unless your dryer is pretty mature it won't have a pilot. It would own electric ignition. Strong winds could preserve it from lighting though. But if the wind have died down I would check to see if the wind possibly blew some lint into the combustion chamber keeping the ignitor from working. Lint could be blocking the gas orifice or be on the ignitor itself keeping it from making a spark. You should know how to brush it clear, use an old toothbrush.
If it is a gas dryer, you should phone the gas company, they will do things like that free of charge, .. It also may be the heat element surrounded by the dryer..
