My husband and I are having a bit of a debate on who should paint our 2 story home this summer. He doesn't want to wage $4K for someone else to do it, and wants to do it himself. I'm confident he can do it, but don't want hime to be busy fine art on his days off (we hold a 3 year old and a kid coming in April). I'd to some extent find a licensed, bonded, and insured contractor. The cost would make us remarkably tight, but I think it's endurable. Suggestions?
Answers: I'm the type of person who surely HATES paying someone to do something that I think I can do merely as well. I've remodeled a bathroom, installed wood floors, repaired my heat/AC, painted the interior, etc. But when it come to painting the exterior of my house, it be time to call within a professional.
We also have a two story house. Sure, I COULD paint it and I'm sure it would turn out fine but it would probably hold me weeks worth of work on a ladder plus the cost of materials.
We have a local crew do ours and it was money okay spent as far as I'm concerned. Our house is not small (@ 3500 sq ft) and they only charged almost $1800. They pressure washed the house, sidewalk and driveway soon and painted it a couple days later. They have a crew of about 10 working on it and painted adjectives the trim, windows, doors, shutters, porch rail, screened-in porch inside and out in sometime.....it was amazing. And, they did apt work.
Like everyone above mentioned, get a few quotes. Also, bargain to your neighbors or keep an eye out around your nouns for paint crews. Right now next to the start of new homes slowing you may hold a better opportunity to get a biddable price.
the exterior is a job for a professional. you will rescue money in the long residence by using quality paints and proper application. a two story charge can be dangerous no thing how experienced the painter.
