Whirlpool (Kenmore) dryer from USA to Australia? Now that I have my dryer from the USA within Australia do...

Now that I have my dryer from the USA within Australia do I have to dump it? We brought it next to us because it uses 240 volts, not knowing that it also uses 120 volts. We can use a transformer - but how do we connect it, the local electricians do not seem to be any back.
if you go to use your dryer then buy a 240 -50 motor on later it will work for you if you come back to the usa after you have the motor to put posterior on

I don't think voltage is going to be your problem contained by Australia. Check to make sure, but I reflect that Australia runs on 50Hz. Here in the US we run on 60Hz.

As far as the 120, 240 go, the dryer electrical system itself takes vigilance of that. The components that use 120v are only feed from one leg of the 240v that is one fed from the file. In other words, you hook up the dryer to 240v (just like it be hooked up in the US). 240v is made up of two 120 lines. Those components are feed from either leg of the circuit, but not both.

Answers:    escruggs is way past its sell-by date base on this one. The power contained by Australia is 240V 50 hz, whereas the voltage in the US is 120V 60 hz. The cycle speed doesn't concern that much, its just that the motor will run a short time slower (if it were 120V) The difficulty is that you necessitate to transform the 240V to 120V for the motor ,timer and light. Once you own it reduced, you then entail to have 2 phases so the dryer component can run on 120V from 2 different sources (240V) for the heat. Contact an electrical manufacture in Australia but within all honesty, I'd dump it and buy a local piece of equipment.
