My husband insists that the door should lock when the door knob lever is vertical. I've never seen door locks installed so that they lock this bearing. I've always have my knobs installed so that they lock when the lever is turned up and down. Is this a thing of choice or is their a correct method? Now, all of our doors lock beside the lock going up and down, except for the one that he installed which now locks when turned horizontally.

Thanks, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Answers:    Door knob are a pain to install, and an even bigger misery to install so that they lock or unlock a certain channel.

Your husband just doesn't want to mess next to it any more. Pretend he's right, or fix it yourself.
Yes, you are correct. That is the "standard" way.
