My apartment gets really humid and sticky during the summer, and I'm looking around for places that put on the market silica gel desiccants (the little bead packets you find contained by new shoes and purses that hold your attention moisture and prevent mold) by the pound.
I don't want my energy bill to jump up, so I don't want to buy a dehumidifier. I want something non-toxic, and from my research so far, silica gel is one of the safest.
But where can I buy it by the pound? From the Web sites I've see, I'd have to buy thousands of those little packet, and they're sold wholesale.
If anyone knows where on earth I can find it, or knows of a better inborn humidity controller, please let me know. Thanks.
Answers: the cheapest colloquial dehumidifier is fresh air, as long as it's not wringing wet.
you'd need too plentiful of those packets to hold much. and silica is a carcinogen.
