What's wrong next to my fridge? every time I plug it in it smells like something burning similar...
every time I plug it in it smells like something burning similar to an electrical fire. We have tried plugging it in surrounded by a different outlet. What is wrong with it.
HVAC Tech.: No point in burning down the house, take professional help!! Or replace the unit. could be dirt and dust on cooling coils, verbs them off
Most often that is a fried start relay on the compressor and they strongly stink approaching burnt electrical as that is what it is.
I kept plastic grocery loads in my truck to put them in because they smelled so desperate they would stink up the garbage. I had to purify my hands and tools right away because the smell would get on everything it be so strong.
I would bet you need a new relay since didn't utter the smell was "inside" the unit. That relay is what usually stinks from the outside. And when you plug it surrounded by, the condensor fan comes on and blows that residual smell around even if it is no longer arcing.
Good Luck.
Answers: what's wrong with it is that there's a short within the wiring and if you're smelling that smell, and it keeps doing it no situation what outlet, you simply better leave the unit unplugged until you can own a professional look it over--or buy a new one. Don't take an unneccessary risk contained by burning your house down...unless you're in foreclosure and you're looking for a way to capture out of that mortgage without being charged next to arson.
