We needed to shorten the draw cords from our window shades (honeycomb blinds from 3 Day Blinds). Fusing the two ends subsidise together is more difficult than you might expect.

We have be successful at heating/melting the cut ends with a lighter and squishing them together, but this tend to both discolor the cord and to leave a rock-hard, rigid spot in the cord that hang up when it goes through the rollers. In other words, it works, but it's not wonderful.

A visual inspection of the factory splice suggests that they're joining the ends short heat. Is in that a special tool that does this? or a different technique that yields better results than what we've done?
Answers:    We enjoy several roll-up white bamboo screen in our Florida Room. My wife took the roller tube from a toilet tissue or hulking paper towel roll, slit the ends one time respectively and then rolled the excess far ample to rest at the bottom of the windows. The strip end be then stuffed inside the tube.

Good luck.
