I¡¯m looking at having an AC installed surrounded by my house and was wondering what size AC I should expect to receive quoted on when the guys come out. The house is an 1800sf ranch near a basement and currently have central heat and is ready for the AC. The furnace is contained by an efficient location within terms of distances of the ducts to respectively room. Additionally, the furnace is located roughly 4 feet stale the foundation wall, so again, I think it¡¯s within an efficient spot. The house face west and has three 72¡± x 36¡± window on the front that face west also. The entrance door also face west and does not have any window. The ceilings are at 9¡¯ beside the exception of the great room which has a cathedral that peak at roughly 14¡¯. I have an drive cal somewhere but cannot locate at it as of now. Any information will be cooperative. Oh, any idea on what something similar to this might cost?
Answers: I'm not really sure about the exact size you obligation for your home. They always influence that too small is not enough and going too big is overkill and merely as much as a mistake. I would call around and take at least 3 reputable companies to come out and donate you an estimate. Estimates are FREE. They will tell you what size is best for your house. Make sure the part is energy star rate. Also, I just installed a power attic gable vent. Power roof vent are better but they are harder to install. My vent fan runs profusely but take my word for it it save me a heap of money lately because it keeps my HVAC unit from running as much. The fan motor is no bigger than a typical portable box adherent. Getting that hot air out of my attic save me a heap of money. You can expect to settle up 3-5k for a whole house packet unit grill pump. But if it's just AC alone probably around partly of that.
i'd go no smaller quantity than a 4 ton unless you entertain lots guests, then you will probably be happier near a 5 ton. a residential load division might say a 2 1/2 ton will work but beware, bodies kind a big difference, and Rocky has some great proposal about attic ventilators.
