The width of my current hindmost door measures exactly 31.5" across. This is not a standard size, as sizes are generally 30", 32", 36", etc. Can I find a door that fits without have custom work done?
Answers: Are you replacing only the door itself? Depending on the fabric, you may be able to cut/plane a 32" door. If your are replacing beside a pre-hung, you could slightly widen the rough debut (if necessary) and install a 32", or shim a 30" into the opening, but the lost 1.5" can be problematic when moving furniture and appliances contained by or out.
You can get a 30, but you will hold to make sure that the door shuts properly against the wooden/metal stops on the frame. You can draw from a 32, and plane it down to your specific measurements.
