What should I do next to my floors? I recently bought a condo beside hardwood floors. I just...
I recently bought a condo beside hardwood floors. I just notice that there is a significant amount of wear surrounded by the high-traffic areas. I can feel the small piece of the wood. Is there a wood finish to oblige smooth out the surface? Any other suggestions?
Answers: Try waxing it, if you stain it, you will stipulation to do entire floor because it would make your floor look far worse than it does next to wear. You could also try a waterbased polyurethane in low make notes on to protect wood, but being wise not to get it on other finished parts damp. It may be oil base on there, and it would lug too long to dry and may even be sticky for several days. Use a small brush. You could rent a sander and do over entire floor before you move within if you trust yourself. Or do the polyurethane and have the floor wax and buffed. This would be cheaper by far. However it won' t look as good. If the stain is significantly dark you may have to rehash.
I would lighty sand blast or strip the finish from the highest traffic nouns (hallway ?) first. Sand it smooth with fine sandpaper. Then I would try an epoxy coat on the wood. If it match the other part of the floor, I would try the remaining areas to blend them within. Otherwise you're looking t stripping and re-finishing the entire thing. By doing a hall, you can stop at the ends and use it for a test run.
It's profoundly of work, but doing it right will last for years.
Good luck
