Your problem is you do not own enough suction.

What we do for contained by ground pools with raise spas to clean the grit out of the foot all right area is to use a 1/2 or 5/8 clear PVC hose nearly 20' long. Clamp the hose to a PVC sprinkler pipe about 8' long. Start a siphon at the wind up of the clear PVC pipe lay end on the ground until hose down flows. Grab the PVC Sprinkler pipe and start sucking up the debris, including small grit.

As a pool owner (20 X 30 X 9 deep) I say, put aside your money. Those vacuum deals are a idle away of time and energy, I spend a LOT smaller amount time using a skimmer with a long pole to verbs out detritus. For hard to achieve stuff, like pebbles, I transport the skimmer off the bar and dive down. :-) The vacuum is just frustrating, we own a new pump and it not quite picks up squat. I hate that article. :-) You can have mine!
