I have a hurricane lantern post outside that has a sensor, which turns the lighting on and sunset and off at sunrise. There is also an electrical outlet on the post. Neither the pale or the outlet works, and all breakers are on. What could be wrong?
Answers: The outlet should not be wired through the sensor, so if neither the standard lamp nor the outlet work then no power is getting to the oil lamp post. Has anybody been digging within the yard only just? They could have cut the chain. Also, is there a switch inside somewhere for this hurricane lantern?
If there is an electrical outlet on the post (near the bottom -- 3-socket, feminine plug-in type I assume, in a weather-proof box) that outlet should be 'live' at adjectives times for the lamp to hold electrical supply also. You can test the SUPPLY of electricity to the full lamp post by first night the utility box for the plug-in and pulgging a workshop lamp (or other safety-grounded portable light) into it and see if the lantern can be turned on. If not, there is NO electrical supply to the hurricane lantern post, and the trouble lies somewhere in the breaker box or within the underground electrical cable from the breaker box out to the pole.
