What is the difference between plumber's putty and epoxy putty?
Plumbers putty is a sealer used mainly for faucet installation to prevent water splashed on the sink from going through the faucet mounting holes and wet down the area under the sink. It contains grease so it doesn't dry out and crack. Epoxy is an adhesive for joining two materials together permanently. you use one for plumbing and one for epoxy stuff.a short time ago dont question the label.the maker know wat theier doing.they made them different for a reason
Plumber's putty is used under th eflange for the faucet. It go between the sink surface and the bottom of the faucet flange or trim plate. It is also used between the sink drain flange and the sink. It is NEVER used to seal pipe joints, coat threads surrounded by plumbing or any place where there is anywater pressure.
Epoxy putty is a joining agent/material. Can be used to attach two itmes together, repair low stress cracked areas or permeate in voids or dents like thise surrounded by a wood table.

Answers: Plumbers putty doesn't harden. It stays flexible and waterproof. Epoxy putty can be moulded to fit anything it is your doing. Then it dries hard.
Plumber's putty should stay plyable, while the epoxy putty should harden solid.
