What is the black slime that develops around the kitchen faucet? It's disgusting and strong to verbs.?

You have to use a toothbrush to clean around the knob and faucet assembly. What causes this ick? What is it made of?

Ditto the above answers. To prevent it wipe the faucet down near paper towels after frequent use (like at meal prep time). Mold loves river and dark crevices.

Most likely it is mildew. Make sure your sink is dry and have no leaks. Use a mildew-resistant cleaner.

Answers:    mold , use a bleach and water 4 dampen to 1 bleach in a spray bottle and let it own it. Leave it sit for a bit then wipe off
