Today they cut a hole in my roof and run a pipe straight up through it. The contractor put spray foam there, and I don't ruminate that's right. What is the name of the rubber piece that go around the pipe and under the shingle to prevent marine from leaking within? Thanks for any help, and the roof is sloped, not flat.
Answers: It's not right. The roofing objects needs to be removed,(composition shingles,shake,tile,etc, etc). Then after making sure the moisture obstruction is in tack, place the proper size pipe flashing (galvanized) over the pipe. For a backfire proof water trademark, you can get a pipe flashing, beside a rubber collar attached to the flashing. The rest should be done by someone with roofing experience. It sounds resembling your contractor has little or no roofing experience. His repair will slick.
Contact a roofer and ask him. I believe it is called a bonnet which fits over a standpipe and lower than the shingle to prevent a leak. Hope you haven't rewarded the contractor in full. Get him to fix it properly or report him to the state.
