What do I do w/ a dampen softener? I moved into this house 2 months ago. I live in town....

I moved into this house 2 months ago. I live in town. The culture who lived here, were solely here for 3 yrs, then sold it to me. They own never put salt within the kenmore soft water system since they own been here. It is on. I am not sure what to do. Should I use it? would it clear a difference in my sea pressure as far as build-up? They really couldn't give me any info on it.
Answers:    Get the sea tested for ph and alkalinity. This will tell you if you require the softener or other type of treatment. Try to find brochure for Kenmore product online, or have someone surrounded by the water treatment business show you how to do it the first time.
If you aren't have problems with sturdy water (white crusty crap building up on faucets, drains, etc...) afterwards I would just unplug it. If it's on beside no salt afterwards it's not doing anything for you. If you leave it running afterwards it will cycle water flushing it out unnecessarily, wasting sea and costing you money.
However...someone installed it so you might need it. You can buy some saline and put it in. Who know, you might enjoy the difference of soft river. Your local home center has oodles different kinds of hose down softener salt available.
