What color should i paint my piano bench? My piano bench is really beat up and have some mysterious water...

My piano bench is really beat up and have some mysterious water trash.

I tried to get it refinished but the furniture shop said that the wood be too damaged to be refinished because of the wet damage...blah blah blah.

I be thinking maybe i could paint it.....but what color?

My piano is a exceedingly dark mahogany color.

I be thinking black might be a nice contrast...i dont know. help me!
