What can I do if a roofing contractor have not started my roof two weeks after the expiration of his contract? I signed a contract for a new roof on 4-18-08 to...

I signed a contract for a new roof on 4-18-08 to be completed by 5-21-08, but they own not started on it yet. I own paid 1500.00 upfront, to which I hang on to thinking I will not get spinal column for work that has not even begin. He will not call us, and will not answer his phone. I am supplying materials surrounded by which pallets of shingles have be killing my grass. I hold had a dumpster contained by my driveway for all that time, thinking it would be started on 4-20-08. So very soon I know I am out 400 for the dumpster. How do I get my money vertebrae? Please help. To sort things more, I just did a license check and found his roofing license is expired! I am not sure of the subsequent step I should take contained by the process!
You need to budge to the courts. You need to find out if you can own him arrested on theft by fraud. Then you need to record a law suit for your money. G/L

The first thing I'd do is to contact any of your local report stations and talk to their consumer alert squad. In our area, the local stations christen theirs "Ruth to the rescue", "Fox 2 problem solvers" and "Hall of Shame", etc.
They have reporters that contact the body, threatening to expose their shady business practices to the entire viewing area unless they work next to the disgruntled consumer.
Of course, take them to court if that fail.
Answers:    You simply sue him for breach of contract, for the cost of the dumpster..and the cost to replace your lawn for it would not own happened if he kept his contract. You may also see roughly speaking sueing him for an additional amount for fraud if the license be expired when you signed the contract if he said and represented himself as being liscened at the time...You may also sue him for interest on the money you enjoy given him the maximum amount of what your state allows..
