I want to by my b/f a new drill for his birthday. What brand is better Craftsman or Black& Decker?
Why would you choose one over the other?
How much of a difference is in that betweent he 12 vold and the 18 volt?
Yhe craftsman is other better, only because it have a life time guarentee. The Black and Decker is moral as well, don't know almost their policies. Anything craftsman is good.

If adjectives you ever expect him to need it for is small projects (e.g. - drilling holes to suspend pictures, lights, grab-bars, etc.) around an apartment go for the cheapest cordless you can draw from.

HOWEVER, If he'll be doing bigger projects (e.g. - building a deck, installing sheetrock, etc.) now or within the future, you want something better than the cheapest item available.

I prefer the B&D power tools over Craftsman. With either brand, return with the 18 volt as it's more poweful. It's better to spend more at the start rather than buying a smaller quantity expensive item now and then having to buy the more expensive one when the first one can't fiddle with the job.

Depending on how and where on earth he will use it, you may be able to bring back by with a corded, a bit than cordless, drill. If that would work you could use the savings to buy a nice set of drill bits, a long extension cord and other paraphernalia. And if having to use a cord isn't a problem, you should know that a corded drill is collectively going to be more poweful than any cordless drill.

My corded Craftsman drill burned out earlier than I infer was appropriate. I replaced it beside a corded B&D model and am very pleased. It's unusual that a corded drill doesn't cover adjectives of my needs when accompany with a 100 foot creamy duty extension cord. Cordless is more for convenience.

I have an 18-volt Cummings cordless that I really approaching (and an extra battery for it which is esteemed if you go cordless and expect to use it heavily on any given project). DeWalt is also great.

To answer your specific question, I've just have better luck with B&D than Craftsman. (It's open-handed of like a Chevy truck versus Ford truck article - guys just tend to develop their own preferences.) And in attendance is quite a bit of difference between the 12- and 18-volt cordless models when doing "real" work, so jump for the 18-volt if it will ever be needed.

An 18-volt cordless in any brand should make any guy ecstatic. I just ensue to prefer B&D and corded, rather than cordless, drills.
Answers:    If you want to marry him buy a Dewalt.12 volt is good satisfactory for around the house.18 volt is for real projects.
