What are the long wooden sledgehammers usually used for?

driving stakes into the ground and heavy demolition breaking things

They are used for breaking up rock , concrete, driving wedges in blocks of wood when a splitting maul is stuck. Carpenters use them around living sides a lot..if you want to move a wall .when framing . Breaking down concrete block walls, driving huge wedges.only just depends on their weights as what you can do with them...I had one that I weld a 3"square head on for driving footing stakes.it's a lot better than a short bar..but all ones choice of course. flawless luck Bashing watermelons.
