I have have the same dampen heater for the later 30 years; it works fine and has minimal rust. I not long had a plumber come over to work on one of my sinks and he told me that my dampen heater requests to be replaced. Like I said it still works fine, what should I do?
Answers: Water heaters should be replaced about every 15yrs. They return with alot of sediment in them. Even if you use proper support and drain it every year. If you heater is 30 years outdated, it's costing you money to heat your sea. It's not efficient. Upgrade. Most joie de vivre company (Vectren) offer rebate on better energy positive appliances, so you won't have to wage as much as you think.
Although the WH still works fine,it could be costing you money. You bungled to mention if it's gas or elect. As far as the rust, it would be on the inside not the outside. The plumber really should've explained to you why he thought it should be replaced. Wouldn't hurt to ask him. He could actually own a legitimate judgment besides ripping you off. Could be a sanctuary issue.
