We just bought a house 3 months ago. The house is individual 5 years old but our hose heater have started to act up. It is plenty hot adequate when you first turn on the water but after a few minutes runs out. Is it possible that the heat elements went bleak already or maybe the thrermostat? Thanks.
Most electric water heaters enjoy two elements--one of your elements probably went out; hence, hot wet at first but soon you have cold dampen.

if that heating system is ELECTRIC your not going to like it. can't see that the thing is bad if after a while (hours) you once again enjoy hot water for a few minutes. electric is disgraceful for that. try not to turn the water on any more than you really have need of. if you have gas into the house, carry a gas hot water boiler. what is your source of heat. if it's grease you can get an grease fired hot water heating system (that's what i got when i get a new grease heater. it's a separate section. NOT CHEAP but i have but to run out of hot water and here were 5 adults contained by the house at the time of installation. gas would probably be cheaper.
i don't have gas into my house. most everything be electric when i bought the house. cut back on the amount of hot hose down you use for each shower. one other piece is available but i believe it's not cheap. look into what is called HOT WATER ON DEMAND. piece it's electric but works well i'm told and at hand is no tank. it with the sole purpose produces hot water when you turn the spigot on.
moral luck to ya
Answers:    I wouldnt replace the reservoir until it is much older, or leak.

Your lower heating feature is probably burned out. Leaving you with merely the little water the reserve heat element leaves on the top of the reservoir.
You can take a volt meter and check the lower thermostat. But it is probably the item, available at any hardware store.
Turn the juice bad (and the water) before thinking of removing any elements!
