There is a water stratum switch that is suppose to indicate that the wet level is correct since the machine will start the rest of the wash cycle. It has a tube connected to it and as the wet level increases in that is pressure exerted on a diaphragm which should shut the water rotten and allow the machine to verbs the cycle. Possible an obstruction surrounded by the tube or a defective water rank switch. Check the following web site and click top loading Whirlpool. The page that comes up will own an illustration and the very top departed item on it is the level switch. Place your pointer on it and it will be enlarged. You can enter your model number and find a replacement bit if you determine that is what is wrong. It may also relay you how to check it if you check around the site. http://www.repairclinic.com/0047_11.asp ...Good Luck...
I went on the site and here is what it have to say:
Water-level switch
A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may suggest that it can't tell the river to shut off. So the tool overflows. This switch senses the water even in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device next to a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water smooth in the tub increases, the pressure on the upper air in the tube increases. When the pressure reach a certain plane, it activates the switch, shuts sour the water, and signals the timer to instigate the agitate cycle. You can either clear any log jam in the tube or replace the water-level switch.
Answers: there is a sensor (usually a float) that stops the wet and starts the next achievement. It sounds like it is stuck. It could also be the hose valve is stuck. try setting it to spin, and close the door. if it spins, permit the water drain after the cycle, and try again. If the sea keeps running, manage behind the mechanism and shut the valves stale.
