Warranty for home appliances? Hello all, Recently we have to service our refrigerator (only 4 yrs old)...

Hello all,
Recently we have to service our refrigerator (only 4 yrs old) due to frost buildup and it cost us a lot for a small available job.

Do others of you insure or purchase warranty for your major
home appliances (fridge, washer, stove, built-in micro, etc.) and if so is within a reliable service company?

Please let me hold your feedback!

Our appliances are between 4-8 years old.

Thanks!!
Most appliances of the brands you mention
will be trouble free for tons years and extended
warranties are a losing proposition.
Service call are expensive, but the cost of the
warranty will be greater. That's what keeps
them within business.
below is a website that may be beneficial. A friend of mine works at one of their locations; they deal next to warranties for tires, appliances, tools, etc...

I never bought extended warranty for any of my appliances. Some people append extra warranties on everything. It is a personal choice.
Answers:    I own literally saved thousands of dollars on appliance repair next to my sears home warranty and it is worth every penney I retribution for it. I know that Consumer Reports says home warranty or extended warranties are not worth it, but they sure own been for me. The lone extended warranty I never used was for a Sony TV I purchased for $19, (though they did replace the remote for free). I buy usually the most reliable, top extremity appliances that they recommend and have have warranty repairs by sears on almost every one of them. I truly believe that as appliances own gone digital with more bells and whistle, there is lately simply more that goes wrong beside them. I have have the GE home warranty on my appliances and found their coverage to be less extensive than the sear and doesn't include things like food surrounded by the freezer when the compressor goes out. Plus, sear sends the parts directly to you, they send out a sear service person and do not contract near local appliance service companies. That means, when you receive the chunk at your home, you call sear to schedule the installation and repair. With GE, the part of the pack is sent to the contractor who often doesn't notify you that they hold the part and you are hounding them until THEY own the time in their programme for the installation. Moreover, as long as your appliances are not over 10 years old, sear will warrant them while other companies won't take any appliance over 5 years. The worst appliance I own is my GE profile side by side refridgerator/freezer which have had adequate repairs that I could have bought a top pit new fridge, icemaker at lowest possible twice replaced, condensor, coils, seals, thermostat, motor, adjectives replaced by sears minus one dime being charged to me and adjectives of the food was covered. Furthermore, they will cover cosmetic defect (like the grille under the hose down maker that started to outer layer off the silver) the front of the dishwasher where on earth the heat vent discolored the panel that other warranty don't. Finally, if you have NO claims within a particular year, they transport you a gift licence for anything at sears contained by nearly the amount of the premuim you paid for that appliance. For me, it is a piece of mind for my pocketbook.
Warranties are NOT always more than a service telephone. If you buy an appliance from Home Depot or Lowes the extended warranty is only $60 for 3 years, six years ago I have Sears come look at my dryer and it was $65 of late for the trip out. Sears' warranties are much more expensive because they claim to enjoy a "maintenance plan" where on earth they come and look at the applinace once a year. In your case, You ,ight hold to look at a home warranty (which still charges you for a service call, newly not the parts). Or go near one of the suggestions above.
