I have crumbling paint from a prior repair on bottom of a cast iron tub. What should i use to saturate and what type of paint will hold up.. also will it need primed??
Answers:    You should look into getting a custom liner.
There are 3 largest companies doing this type of remodel
1) Luxury Bath
2) Re-Bath
3) Bath Fitter

Luxury Bath is the highest talent by a long shot. It also has a product call microban. Microban is a antimicrobial product that actually kill mold and mildew. It also comes with the best warranty. www.luxurybath.com

Re-Bath would be my second choice. The judgment being is they, resembling Luxury Bath have a one piece "dog leg" (The nouns on the wall in front rotten the tub. The dog leg goes from the top of the tub guiderail to the floor.) The dog leg is important if you want to do the walls.

The drive I would not recommend Bath fitter is because of the dog leg. This is the area specifically most prone to leaking and they piece it together here.

As far as other option there is

1) tear it out and starting over
2) Ceramic tile
3) re-glazing (what you have peal now)

With tearing it out you will be forced to use a fiberglass tub, which is thoroughly porous making it very difficult to verbs. (for those that are reading this, thinking how nice your fiberglass tub is, go contained by there and rub your fingers over it. It may look o.k. but it will be greasy, that¡¯s because the porous things is literally sucking the soap scum contained by. Fiberglass surrounds are also known for cracking and anyone "spongy" when you stand in them.

Ceramic tile is patently attractive, but unfortunately the grout is the shabby point, after all its 80% sand, and sand sucks surrounded by the water making it a impeccable surface for mold and mildew. Grout also needs looking after once a month, but before you do the continuation, you need to verbs it with a toothbrush.

re-glazing is when they paint the tub. This is more of a band-aid if your trying to flog the home, but don¡¯t care how it will look surrounded by 6 months to 1 year. It also doesn't address the walls or fixtures.
why do u want to paint a tub.its not going to last long.its basically temporary..why do u guess its peeling again.BECAUSE IT DOES'T LAST.freshly replace it.the time to takes to verbs and sand it...prime it.paint it.let it dry beforehand u can use it, it's cheeper just to buy tentative one
