Turned on heating system for first time surrounded by house? My husband and I just moved into a rental house and turned...

My husband and I just moved into a rental house and turned on the furnace for the first time tonight. It is a gas heater and it stunk so desperate I turned it off. I hold a carbon monoxide tester and it does not show CM in the atmosphere. My hsuband said that it will just enjoy to "burn" off. It in truth was making discern sick. Is this normal for a gas stove after it has be off for 9 months??
Does it smell close to gas? Or maybe Exhaust fumes? Leaking? Is it an elder system?

TOTALLY normal.
Stuff builds up surrounded by there..spider web. dead bugs, anything. Once the heat is on to stay, it get odorless.

Wisconsin native....suffer through one and the same smells every fall.
Answers:    A lot of times in that can dust that has settled contained by the heater. When you haven't turned it on within a while there can be like mad of settled material. It is not unlike the build up of muck on the inside of you saloon window over time. The same happen to your furnace. Dust, aerosols, etc etc... When you turn it on it burns stale this material. It will repeatedly stink and the smell can make some nation that are sensitive to it nauseated or dizzy. If your CO meter isn't going off afterwards you usually have zilch to worry roughly speaking.

Again this is normal and the smell will be in motion away. If it is too bad turn on a lover and open the window to disapate some of the smell out of the house.

Remembering, however, that it is perfectly everyday for dust to collect on the heat exchanger over the summer, and the first time you turn on the boil the dust will burn off, resulting contained by a strong, distinct odor. We like to ring it the "Winter Stink Factor." Just open your window to let the odor dissipate. If, however, you are still notice strange odors emanating from the boiler, then shut it bad and consult a professional as soon as possible."
