I am considering tiling about 1200 sq ft and debating between travertine or porcelain tile. My chief concern is Travertine requires more maintenance than porcelain and is also susceptible to stains and etching. I hold a busy household and was wondering if anyone else have experienced maintenance trouble next to Travertine in a multiple kid/pet household.

Answers:    ive installed every type flooring made..and if you really want travertine then install it... you can use a penitrating sealer that will trademark it durable .. here are some sites you can look over
Personally neither, just because they are both really cold and intricate surfaces. Porelain tile chips. Try looking into synethic lookalikes. It would be cheaper, easier to clean and believe it or not look better, plus definite durable. However Travertine [stone] is a better choice between the two. Just seal it every year next to watersealer, double coat. You shouldn't have any staining later.
