I have a Torpedo Pump that sits on my vault floor about 7 foot from my well (in the underground room as well). For some reason the resourcefully pump runs continuously. It is set to shut off at 50psi. The cistern hovers at about 48 - 50 psi but never more than that. The pump and switch give the impression of being relatively new. The entity that sold me the house had the pump bad for awhile and I think this problem merely started once we turned it back on. So I hold 2 guesses and am looking for any suggestions/feedback:
1) The screen or filter surrounded by the pump has adequate buildup on it to supress the pump's pressure (if so, can this be solved by back-flushing it?)
2) The switch is messed up or wired wrong.

The only unknown is that even though the pump continuously runs, here is no increased pressure in the house and the river theoretically is going 'nowhere' or stern into the well contained by some way (or the motor is running and simply not pushing water through).

Stumped.
Answers:    whats the cut surrounded by and out pressures?
if the pump has of late one pipe going down into the well the most plausible problem is the jet is stopped up...what brand pump is it....if it have two pipes going into the well the shot will still be the problem but the jet is inside the metal item that the two pipes connect to...it is inside the one i.e. for the larger of the two pipes...Make sure your gauge is fitting that you are checking the pressure with...also trade name sure that the tank if it is an airbag or detainee air container has 3 psi smaller quantity air within the tank than the see on pressure of the pump with the pump past its sell-by date and no water pressure contained by the system...having two much nouns in the container could cause the problem you are describing also, especially if the pump is a 1/3 or 1/2 hp pump....have need of brand name of pump, how masses pipes go into all right and how deep the ably is to give you better guidance...
