Answers:    Depending how old it is, some have a friction disc for reverse, and yours might be worn. Or it could have areverse belt and it is broken. The linkage may merely be out out of adjustment.

Check the drive belt and the idler pully. If the belt is slipping or the dropout pulley is not applying enough pressure on the belt, your reverse will be slipping.
