You can tighten them with a screwdriver from the top, but you will enjoy to hold the nut from turning underneath, You can probably hold the nut from turning with your fingers, but if you can't, get hold of a pair of pliers or a small adjustable wrench.
The plastic screw threads can strip if overtightened.
