I have scraped and am getting such a slow opening and wondered if there be anything I could spray on it first to loosen it. Or do I just enjoy to continue scrape and then can I put something on it to draw from it completely off the wood? It is aged and thin foamy type. I don't know if they glue it or if it is just stuck from the years of self down. Water also has be on the floor so it is moldy smelling which is why I would like to speed up the process.
Answers:    See if you can achieve a bar underneath the wood floor and pry this up. It should be 1/4" lauan plywood or underlayment. Then you will just install modern underlayment, patch the seams and pin holes, and install your new flooring. Hope this help.
That foamy stuff is foam backed sheet tile.they sold it contained by the 60's dig down basically below the foam stuff and you'll find the underlayment, remove that and the job become easier.
Good luck.
