There be a fire at my apartment will I be evicted??? I had a guest over my house who be smoking a cigar....
I had a guest over my house who be smoking a cigar. I think they accidentally put the fire out over some rag because they couldn't see anything. Any ways they left and 2 hours subsequent I wake up to this burning smell. I dance to the bathroom and see a fire light flickering through the glass so I put the fire out and called the fire dept. What I want to know is am I going to be evicted?
Answers: When I started a fire within my apartment (years ago) I was not evicted - but as others own stated, I was responsible for adjectives the damages. You will get interviewed by the fire department investigators.
I would suggest that you not sprawl about the make happen of the fire. If you do get caught lying, you'd potential be in more trouble because of the falsehood than because you accidentally started a fire.
If your lease specifically prohibits smoking in the apartment - or even if your innkeeper is a jerk and can digit out another reason to evict you - consequently you might be facing eviction. If the lease allows smoking, and/or your landlord is a rational person, consequently probably not.
One thing that help me out (which I would recommend to anyone) is that I had renters insurance. It's similar to homeowners insurance except that it only covers your stuff and the apartment. Most importantly, it includes liability insurance. If you have been out of the apartment building when the fire get going, and the building burned down, you would be responsible for the damages. Most likely, the owner's insurance would wrap up up covering it - but you would at least requirement to pay his deductible, which could be thousands and thousands of dollars.
I don't aim to be alarmist - but renters insurance saved my butt when I started a fire because of the liability insurance. It's worth looking into.
What a blessing that not a soul was hurt contained by the fire! Good luck with your tenant.
no i dont think so but u may be questoned by the police
