my cooler worked fine last year. this year its a pain, when i turn it on the pump works it spins the supporter and water runs to the pads... but within about a minute the motor binds and the fan stops the sea still runs. i removed the belt and the motor will run until i stop it. is my belt to loose or tight? if so how do i adjust it?
You probably have a worn carriage. Go to your nearby HVAC store and buy some new bearing, they used to be cheap. Everythang is getting higher except my paycheck.

When you take the side off of it where on earth the belt is located you can see if the fan motor is running and the fan is not afterwards the belt is slipping if the motor is stopped something is hanging up and the internal protection of the motor is stopping it.
Sometimes there are 2 or 3 speeds on the pulleys, if so try a slower speed. Meaning small pulley on motor substantial on the fan. If it possible to oil the aficionado bearings or motor I suggest you do so using any motor oil 10 to 30 counterbalance. There should be about 1/2 to 3/4 in ch play when you push the belt inward between the admirer and the motor. Have you oiled the fan? There are places on any side of the fan, next to the belt and on the disparate side.

There is a little flip top about 1/4 of an inch round and you want to get some small engine or 3 in one grease and fill up both sides. You can pick it up at any home improvement store or most grocery or drug stores even.

You should do this at the instigation of each summer or the fan cease up and will not turn.

Hope this helps!
Answers:    Make sure you have about an inch or so of play within the belt - too tight a belt will overheat the motor and it will cut out. Possibly could be the squirrel cage shaft bearings, nearby is an oil port on each of them. If the squirrel shut within spins freely with the belt off, that's not the problem. Loosen the belt and you will probably be stern in business.

Edit: I missed the second question. To adjust the belt tautness, loose the motor mounts on both sides of the squirrel cage. Then twist the motor a bit closer to the principal shaft pulley. Retighten the bolts.
