Sump Pump Click on later stale? For the last few days my sump pump has be clicking on...

For the last few days my sump pump has be clicking on then off right away. It seem to work fine through all of the recient storms (I live in WI). It doesn't seem to be to have anything to do with the float. It does this roughly speaking once every two minutes. Everytime is does it, it causes the lights to dim just a bit. Any design on what could be causing this. Thanks!
if it preserve turning off and on with no gooey to pump out then the float switch is malfunctioning. if there is fluid to pump out and it does not pump due to it turning off and on, then it could be that motor is jammed going into overload, turns stale cools down and repeats.. check for motor bound or clogged. may need a capacitor depending on the type of motor on the pump. sounds like the low smooth (off) and high level (on) set points are in step too close together. this is all dependent on the float switch(es). also, you might need a different checkvalve on the output pipe. a bad one will let the dampen seep back contained by, to be pumped back out again, over and over and over.
At certain runoff rates, it's not exceptional for the pump, which often has a duly high ouput in gallons/minute to speedily empty its "sump" area, and later a few moments later the sump fills up and the float rises to the switch-on point.

Now, I did enjoy a case where my pump have a temporary corrugated outflow pipe which cracked and it would pump the sump nearly dry, the water would run right vertebrae into the sump and the pump would then run right away. But in that travel case the pump only shut off for a few second, then it would run for a few seconds, etc.
see if you can adjust the pump lower down for a time

did you check to see if there is river coming in,or you need to bring back a check valve and put it as close to pump as you can, this will stop water from support up to pump. Make sure that the intake of the water line is not restricted. you may involve to clean it out. Otherwise give me more info.
Answers:    most likely it is working fine
when the dampen raises slowly it will not take long for the pump to pump it out
when the river level raises nippy the pump stays on longer as more water is comming into the sump
