Stuck shower person in charge... shower arm? So my apartment was built contained by the 70s, and I...
So my apartment was built contained by the 70s, and I swear, the shower itself has not be updated since the 70s. And the big problem is that the water pressure is AWFUL--as within WAY too hard. If I a moment ago turn down the volume of water via the faucet, the pressure go down, but (obviously) so does the volume. I'm female, I hold long, thick spine. I need like mad of water.
So I bought a contemporary showerhead today. Only problem is... I can't get the infirm one off. While trying to unscrew it, I in actual fact managed to turn the entire shower arm; it be fused so tightly. So I read that the shower arm can also be replaced. Not a bad belief, considering it's a little rusty. Since I patently got the point to start to unscrew, is this something that I could do myself? Yes, I'm a young feminine, but I'm remarkably handy.
And where can I find a shower arm? Are they available surrounded by like the hardware branch of places like Walmart? I detest going to actual hardware stores. People stare.
Answers: Yes you can replace that your self.Screw arm out the rest of way.You can buy one at any home center approaching Lowes,Home Depot, etc.I do not know if Walmart stocks them but they may.Buy some pipe thread lubricant ( Pipe Dope ).Smear on threads and screw in investigational arm and shower head.Easy career ,don't be afraid.
You may want to take out the dampen resricter thing inside the alien shower head. And to avoid scratch the new arm, tighten it within by turning it with a double act rubber handled pliers. Stick the switch of the pliers inside the shower arm and tighten. you don't need to be excessive. so don't move about to far before you can't walk around again. or use rubber gloves(for extra grip) and tighten by hand
