Stove/oven made by brown?

My landlord only just purchached a stove/oven made by the company Brown. He took the manual and I am inept to get the oven to work. It is non -electric and lights by the pilot hurricane lantern. thats lite but no gas is coming to the oven. the burners work fine. is there something that have to be done in demand for the oven to work? i really like to cook and this is getting on my nerves!!!
