Squeeking floorboards--what is the best approach to prevent /remedy this? ...

Answers:    A squeaky floor is caused by nail. The nails used to out of harm`s way the sub-floor and or the unerlayment are experiencing movement from the wood itself. I would need to know if the squeak is underneath carpet, linoleum, or other surface. There is a tools you can buy to take attention of most squeaks. For carpeting they make a tool that can place a screw contained by the floor without cause any damage to the runner. Can you elaborate where on earth the squeak is?
