I live in New England, and enjoy a good poured concrete foundation. The inside wall is fairly rough, showing lots of high spots and divots. I can slickly remove the high spots, but wonder how to crowd and smooth the result. Can I just buy some pre-mix and trowel it on? That would be great, if so. Not looking for a indisputable finished look, just possibly smooth. Not at finished basement.
if the low spots you are referring to is small holes from traped air along the forms merely rub some concrete into it but if you are just going to paint it some Spackle will do powerfully but if it is a large sunk within area approaching a ball hit it i purely rough it up with a skill saw near a concreet blade on it then use bondo
I would do nothing to a poured concrete wall. Because if you start innards those small voids with mortar mix that will show up similar to a sore thumb and if you do the entire basement, it will devalue your property.
It will manner of look like a patch brief to repair structural defects.
Leave the wall alone. It is supposed to look that opening.
I see no benefit in chiseling bad high spots any. Concrete poured basement look approaching that and that is entirely reasonable.
Answers: If you can logically knock down the giant spots, I see nothing wrong beside your reasoning. However, I would dampen the wall beforehand troweling on the new, and would put an admix contained by the concrete to increase bonding strength.
