Smoke after using my electric fire surrounded by strange house? This morning my husband turned on our heater for the first time...

This morning my husband turned on our heater for the first time since we moved within to a new house. A little while after that my bathroom was full up with smoke and the fire alarms be going crazy. It had a smell of hot epoxy resin guns and wood. It eventually went away lacking anything else happening. Why be there so much smoke? Should I do something just about this? I have tried to contact the builder but he is other too busy to come take a look when anything go wrong.
Answers:    We had our furnace replaced later year and the installer disconnected all the smoke detectors earlier he turned on the furnace for the first time. He said that oils used surrounded by the manufacturing process would set stale the alarms. There was an acrid smell for the first little while. It go away in just about 30 minutes and we have not have a problem.
just a thought, in that might have be a bit of plastic of something that should of been removed that get burned off. to be undamaging i would have the kiln inspected by a qualified person. it could of also be the chimney pipes...they are sometime coated with an anti rust objects that smell when they are first used. if you have electric alleviate, maybe a piece of plastic get onto the heating elements
