You say you hold a Loft Ceiling, is this a open Rafter ceiling which you can see the backside of the roof and the rafters? Yes! I think it's "Absolutely necessary" for protection from warmth or cold. Also it is a great noise suppression material. Save money and be greener by accumulation as much as you can afford.
Why not the bathroom? If there is something wrong and it is wet up here, because it may be from humidity infiltration. So if is not a leak from above the roof above the bathroom, it may be because there is no block to stop the humidity from entering the loft area that may come from the bath nouns and fan!
If is not wet up in that and all is well, insulation is the most green point you can do. It's good for resale value to hold the whole rafter area insulated! It's suitable way to save money on nouns conditioning, heating and lower noise level.
