I just bought a brand bright dining table. It's cherry finish. My daughter splashed about 1/4 tsp of sea on it yesterday as we were heading out the door and when we come home the finish was adjectives bubbled up. I'm upset, not at her, but because it wasn't cheap and it's brand new. We get it Jan 1. Should I contact the manufacturer, or is this our own eccentricity. I thought a dining table would be more protected to be able to withstand something approaching this, since this is where you munch through and drink.
I could see possibly a water speck, but not bubbled up. sounds like a cheap finish to me. I would settle to the place where you bought the table from first.
Discuss it beside the dealer you bought it from. Also read the "fine print" of the documents that come with the table.
In this time of "Space-age" materials we tend to think most things are made to touch the main available job they are designed for, but Wood is a more ancient material that we tend to purchase for it's appearance.
Probably the finish you enjoy needs to be "oiled", but even consequently any water vanished long enough will "spot" it. In this defence the water held into the Cherry wood veneer and caused it to expand.
Good Luck - it is vastly difficult to repair but the Furniture dealer would know best.
Answers: sounds defective, contact the manufacturer. they may enjoy failed to apply the a sealant.
